North Cascades PBA Learn to Burn Weekend

Join North Cascades PBA on Saturday, April 11th and Sunday, April 12th to experience prescribed fire up close in a safe, supportive setting. This hands-on weekend is designed to help transform our relationship with fire into knowledge and empowerment. Whether you’re a landowner, community member, or simply curious about fire, this is an experience that can shift your relationship with fire and the landscape for good.

Participants will gain hands-on experience in

  • Fire planning, preparation and control lines construction
  • Taking weather and observing fuels
  • Drip torch safety and controlled burning techniques
  • Holding, patrolling and mop-up procedures
  • Water pump and hose lay set up

What to bring: You’ll be spending each day outside, so be dressed for it. Bring a chair to be comfortable during the presentation. You may want to bring gloves for the more hands-on sessions. Bring your favorite mug for warm beverages.

There will be snacks available and meals provided (Lunch and Dinner on Saturday, Breakfast and Lunch on Sunday). Camping is available onsite.
